This is the Lord’s doing; it is marvelous in our eyes.
Psalm 118:3
The past two years have been challenging for the Lake Charles First congregation.
On August 27, 2020, near Category 5 Hurricane Laura inflicted severe damage to our facility. On October 9, just a few weeks later, category 2 Hurricane Delta brought additional flooding and wind damage to our area. In mid-February 2021, our area was hit with an ice storm that hampered reconstruction efforts. May 17, 2021 saw several members homes with water in them from the more than 12 inches of rain that fell in less than 24 hours. Then, on August 7, 2021 the fire brought extensive damage to our building that we hoped to move back into in about six weeks.
BUT, through it all God has been faithful, and so have the great people of the church – and now God has rewarded them for their faithfulness. He has provided a facility for us without having to go through a rebuilding process. We will have a larger facility AND WE WILL STILL BE DEBT FREE. It needs a little touch up here and there, but we can move in and then take care of those items. God is good!
Our first service in the new facility is scheduled for October 9th. We would love to have everyone come and join us as we celebrate to goodness of God and worship together.
Our new facility is located on the corner of Holly Hill Road and Temple Street, between Sale Road and Interstate 210 in Lake Charles. The address is 3940 Holly Road.
Attached are pictures of where we started, where we’ve been, and where God is taking us. We do want to thank all who have contributed time to help us clean up after the hurricanes, and those who have contributed financially. God bless you all!
